The Wog Boy 2: The Kings of Mykonos

The Wog Boy, one of the most successful Australian comedies of all time, launched the careers of Nick Giannopoulos and Vince Colosimo and now they have returned to Yarraville to reprise their roles as Steve and Frank for The Wog Boy 2: The King of Mykonos. Actor Nick Giannopoulos joins us on TODAY outside the famous pizza shop.

As one of the most successful comedies of all time, The Wog Boy grossed 13.4 million at the box office in 2000. And now, the sequel, Wog Boys 2: The Kings of Mykonos follows the boys on an unpredictable adventure from the unique streets of the Yarraville village to the villages of sunny Mykonos when Steve discovers he had inherited a beach on the island worth millions from an uncle he has never met.

Set to commence filming next week, on location in Melbourne with scenes filmed in and around the new gourmet centre of Melbourne's west, Yarraville, filming sees the return to screen of characters and best mates Steve and Frank, played by Nick Giannopoulos and Vince Colosimo. The Wog Boy valiant also returns to Yarraville along with all the favourite characters from the first film.

The cast are thrilled to be shooting back in Melbourne's western suburbs, with its historical link to the original 'Wog Boy' film. The suburb of Yarraville has even made Nick Giannopoulos a 'special ambassador,' a title bestowed upon him by the Yarraville village traders association in acknowledgement and with appreciation of his efforts in promoting this unique hub of the city.

"Yarraville village was chosen to be the home of 'The Wog Boy' for its unique blend of old world charm, multiculturalism & great coffee! Just some of the things that help make Melbourne the world's greatest city. “I am absolutely thrilled to be driving the valiant back over the west gate into the heartland of our western suburbs to commence the filming of Wog Boy 2 as Yarraville village 'special ambassador,'" says Nick Giannopoulos.

Filming will be directed by multi-award winning director Peter Andrikidis, known best for his work on gritty television series Underbelly. Production will be undertaken by Emilie Sherman of see-saw films together with Giannopoulos through G.O. films. The film will be distributed in Australia and New Zealand by transmission/paramount.

With a stellar cast, and huge base of fans, Wog Boy 2: The Kings of Mykonos is set to smash the box office once again when it reaches cinemas next year.
