Gender bending chemicals

Your home may be housing some very dangerous chemicals. Chemicals that could potentially have devastating effects on your children.

According to new research out of the States, certain substances found in plastics alter the brains of baby boys, in turn making them more ‘feminine’. Products containing these chemicals include dummies and drink bottles.

The research found that males exposed to high doses in the womb went on to be less likely to play with typical boys' toys such as cars and were less likely to join in rough and tumble games.

What’s more, exposure during pregnancy could lead to cancer and infertility in men later in life.

Dr Louise Messara insists that this research in not entirely conclusive and that it still leaves many questions unanswered. She advises women to avoid such products if pregnant or trying for a baby, just as you should avoid alcohol and drugs.

Also, pregnant women should keep cosmetic use to a minimum, choose unscented products, stop using perfume, avoid colouring hair and avoid any DIY.
