This latest addition will build on the Apple iPod family, which includes the iPod Nano, iPod Touch and the iPod Shuffle.

- 1st quarter of 2008 iPods accounted for 42 percent of Apple revenue; 4th quarter of 2008 iPods accounted for 14.21 percent of sales - Pundits think this is due to the financial crisis, but also the 3G iPhone has a lot of features associated with the iPod.
- Various types of the iPod have capacities from 512MB (first iPod Shuffle) up to 120GB (latest iPod Classic - there was as 160GB version that has been discontinued).
